Romulus
Romulus, Romulus,
Father of Rome,
Ran off with a wolf
And he wouldn’t come home.
When he grew up
He founded a city
With an eagle, a bear,
And a tortoise-shell kitty.

History usually paints Romulus as fierce and grand. But here he’s just a boy with a wild streak and a few unusual pets. It’s the kind of version a child might invent after hearing the story once — and liking the wolf part best.
